Michael Skubala feels the squad is in a strong place with the Imps unbeaten in three.
City picked up points and clean sheets against high-flying Derby County and Peterborough United in the previous two fixtures which gives Skubala’s side something to build on.
He said: “The group is in a really good place and is the strongest I’ve seen it.
“The competition for places is the best I’ve seen for sure. Ben House is back available for selection and in competition with Joe and Freddie now too – it’s just about gelling them together.
“We’ve got options, and good quality ones on the frontline, whether it’s an attacker that links or one that stretches the play.”
Skubala is keen to keep the performance levels up as City go in search of three points at Burton Albion this weekend.
He continued: “We are under no illusions, we’ve had some good performances that we haven’t converted into wins, but Burton will be as tough as those matches.
“Our last four results against them haven’t been good but we’re hopeful we can nullify their strengths and cause them some problems.
“We are looking upwards and forwards as to how we can pick up points. We’re confident that if we play well and do our jobs, we’ll be hard to beat and will pick results up.”
