Michael Skubala hailed City’s thrilling 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town as the best performance he has seen from the Imps since joining the club.
Goals from Ted Bishop, Reeco Hackett and Lasse Sorensen made it nine unbeaten for City on what was a successful night for Skubala’s side.
Skubala said: “They were phenomenal tonight - the first 20 minutes we were electric. The way we came out against a team that turned Reading over last week, it was just unbelievable the way we started the game.
“We said we needed to start fast and I’ve never seen them start that fast. For the rest of the game we were really good, to a man it was the best performance I’ve seen since I’ve been here.”
The relentless pressure that City applied to Shrewsbury’s backline created a number of opportunities, with Skubala praising the vigour that his team showed.
He added: “We had the intensity, they couldn’t live with our intensity tonight.
“Our counter-pressing, the second balls, the way we played through the lines in the second half, the way we got on the backline. We could’ve had more goals, it was a very good performance.”
The Imps will now turn their attention to Saturday where they take on play-off chasing Stevenage.
Skubala continued: “It’s going to be a really tough game, everyone knows what Stevenage are about.
“It’ll be a different game, it’ll be difficult for us, but the lads have been brilliant on this run and hopefully we can make it really hard for Stevenage to come here, and let’s see if we can put on another good performance.
“If we can play like we did against Shrewsbury I think we’ll get a positive result again.”
