Sean Roughan believes his side’s strength in character has been the key to City’s six match unbeaten run.
The Imps battled away to take a point from Charlton Athletic in midweek, and Roughan felt City had to show a lot of resilience to ensure they weren’t defeated at the Valley.
Roughan said: “We’ve been on a good run, and we’ve grown in momentum. We got those two wins under our belt before the draw against Charlton, which looking back was a good point.
“We were 1-0 up but they put everything on us and loaded up the box with numbers. To stick with it at 1-1 with a couple of minutes to go shows the character of the group and the togetherness of all of us.
“We’re six unbeaten now and through the whole thing we’ve shown character. We just need to carry it on.”
The Irish centre-half is also confident that the supporters will get behind the team ahead of the Imps' upcoming match against Exeter City on Saturday 17 February.
He added: “The fans are always with us, non-stop, always cheering. Even when the opposition scores they’re still behind us.
“You can see what we’re doing on the pitch, chasing after games, you saw that against Peterborough and Derby - we went after it. The fans want to watch aggressive and attacking football and that’s what we’re doing.”
