Ben House is hoping City can build and climb the table following back-to-back victories against Burton Albion and Fleetwood Town.
A red card late in the first-half for Bosun Lawal swung momentum into the Imps’ favour, and House was on hand to help City to a fifth match unbeaten.
House said: “We saw against Burton when we went down to ten men they didn’t really hurt us, so we wanted to make sure we didn’t do that.
“We wanted to get at them and overload the box with crosses and I think we did that perfectly, and we got rewarded.
“These extra two wins now are important, and hopefully we can kick on and climb the table.”
The striker has spent much of the season on the sidelines after suffering an injury in late August and received a raucous reception on his return to the starting line-up at the LNER Stadium.
He added: “It was quite surreal walking out and hearing the support from the fans and hearing that atmosphere again.
“I’ve missed it and I’m just glad to be back.”
