Michael Skubala is ensuring everybody’s feet are firmly on the ground as City look to build on the current momentum.
The Imps have won the last five and are unbeaten in the last 15 matches but Skubala still believes there’s room for improvement.
He said: “I think there will still be twists in the road for everybody in this race, but that’s how football works.
“The players know how we want to play and what’s required of them as we’ve set out a really clear identity of what we want to do.
“They're passionate, they want to do well and want to keep improving. We want to keep improving as a team all the time.”
Skubala insists his side must be at their best if they are to extend the winning run at Reading on Saturday afternoon but believes his side are capable of doing so.
He added: “We have got pace and power on the frontline and can defend well, and we’re starting to grow into a team that can hurt other teams in different ways.
“Reading can really hurt you if you’re not on top of it. When they came to our ground I thought they were phenomenal, so we’re going to have to be really on it at their place.
“I think if we do our work well and look after our side of things we will be able to hurt them, but they will also be thinking the same.”
