Ethan Erhahon is proud of the run City have been on during the second half of the season which put them in the play-off picture.
Defeat to Sky Bet League One champions Portsmouth combined with results elsewhere meant the Imps narrowly missed out on a top six spot, but Erhahon believes there’s plenty to build on heading into the new campaign.
He said: “It has been an incredible run and they don’t happen very often in many people’s careers - no matter what league you’re in.
“We take great pride in the run we went on and are sorry we couldn’t get the job done against Portsmouth.
“Portsmouth have been consistent throughout. That is the standard of where we want to be fighting at the top next season.”
Erhahon was also named Fans’ Player of the Season after the match, with the midfielder taking time to show his appreciation for the continued backing from the City supporters.
He added: "It’s a great honour and I am thankful to everyone who voted.
“Our fans gave us great support even when we conceded the second. It’s amazing to have that backing and it shows us that they’re appreciative of the season we’ve had.
“They stuck with us home and away, and are one of the best fanbases I have played in front of for sure.”
