Tom Shaw is proud of the team’s mentality as City picked up seven points from a possible nine throughout a busy period.
The Imps earned wins against Fleetwood Town and Charlton Athletic before battling to a share of the points against Exeter City at St James Park.
Shaw said: “It has been a long week with long trips, so the physical effort from this group of players has been phenomenal and perhaps we were just feeling it at the end today.
“However, their grit, determination and character got them over the line, and we managed to get a positive result. It’s been an outstanding week from a really honest group of lads. I think everyone within the club is proud with what the group has done.”
The interim head coach is also pleased by the promising early signs of Jack Vale and believes he and the squad are in a good place.
Shaw added: “What everybody will see with Jack is that his most pleasing trait is how much of a nuisance and how aggressive he is. He backs into defenders and runs down the sides of players and he will push the people who have those positions at the moment.
“All of the lads have put in an unbelievable effort for the football club, and we have to keep them ticking over between these fixtures. There are lots of games, but the players are very professional, they will recover well, get around each other, and will be fighting fit again on Tuesday evening.”
