Alex Mitchell has praised the unity shown within the group to see out a 1-0 win at Fleetwood Town.
Mitchell’s first goal for the Imps coupled with some solid second-half defending helped City return to winning ways at Highbury Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “When you have the lead at the break, you have got to win games like that. We held on quite well and every man showed how good they were.
“It’s a team game and we know what we have needed to improve on, and we have shown we can hold our own.”
Mitchell was also delighted to send the travelling supporters home happy and hopes to build on the performance heading into Tuesday’s game against Charlton Athletic.
He added: “You play football for the fans, they are the ones coming to support us. I am really glad we could hold on for an away win.
“It’s nice to win games, especially away from home. Momentum can get you a long way, so it is massive to get this result.
“We should be full of confidence heading into the Charlton game - we’re at home so hopefully we can take the game to them.”
