Danny Mandroiu believes there is a new energy about the City squad as they prepare to welcome Oxford United to the LNER Stadium.
The Irishman has been forced to watch from the sidelines in recent weeks but has been impressed with what he has seen from his team-mates in his absence.
Mandroiu said: “There is a new energy to the squad, the players in the dressing room are so talented and I think you’re seeing that now in how we’re playing and how we’re building up from the back.
“It’s a new way of doing things, but everyone’s enjoying it.”
Mandroiu also directed an apology at supporters for the tackle that led to his dismissal against Burton Albion.
He added: “I just want to apologise for the tackle against Burton and letting the supporters down.
“I’ve already apologised to my team-mates - there was no malice in the challenge, but unfortunately I didn’t get the ball and I’ll learn from it.”
