Michael Skubala was pleased with his side's determination following City's controlled 3-0 win at Cambridge United on Tuesday night.
Three different goalscorers helped the Imps pick up three more points, but it was the team’s drive that was most impressive for the City head coach following a busy fixture schedule.
He said: “It was a nearly perfect performance. We dug deep, sustained and dominated throughout, and there were some really good performances out there.
“I was still pushing the lads at the end because I still believe in those key behaviours, but I was really impressed with seeing them still driving each other after the two weeks we’ve had with back-to-back games.”
Skubala was also happy with the performance of Dylan Duffy who was deployed at left wing-back and helped City implement the pre-match instructions.
He added: “Before the game we talked a lot as a team about getting numbers in the box and finishing our attacks. I think the build-up to the penalty was a very good example of that as it was a move with sustained possession in their half.
“Dylan gave us an attacking threat and I think that’s important because when you come away from home you have to be able to hurt teams and we had an out ball with Dylan who allowed us to do that.”
