Tom Shaw described how proud he was of the players as they scored a 93rd minute equaliser to draw 1-1 with Port Vale.
The interim head coach has overseen an upturn in form alongside progression in the EFL Trophy since taking the reins just under a month ago.
Shaw said: "They’re a credit to the club and a credit to the profession. In the league we’ve gone from 16th to 9th, to achieve that with this group in difficult circumstances - I’m so proud of the players.
“There’s real potential in this group, and once one or two players return from injury and get stronger and stronger then we should have a really exciting second half of the season.”
Shaw also praised the club for their support since taking the reins as interim head coach just under a month ago.
He added: “It’s been an absolute pleasure and privilege to lead this football club for seven games.
“It’s a fantastic football club - you saw the atmosphere towards the late stages today. It’s a remarkable club full of brilliant people, and the players have been fantastic with me.”
