Tom Shaw was full of admiration for his City side as they returned to winning ways in a 2-0 victory against Notts County.
The win took the Imps through to the knockout stages of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, with Shaw was happy to see his side bounce back against the Magpies.
Shaw said: “I have so much admiration for this group. It was a disappointing result on Saturday, but I’m so proud of them because we are missing 70% of our forward players. It affects any group of players, and the lads have still had some exciting results in the league.
“Against Notts they bounced back and showed great character and personality. We’ve got our feet on the ground and have loads to work on as a group, but we’ve given ourselves a really nice platform.”
City’s interim head coach was also full of praise for Dylan Duffy after the Irishman put in a man-of-the-match performance under the LNER Stadium lights.
He added: “Dylan has shown brilliant traits in the last few weeks. He’s shown real hunger, and we know about his ability.
“He’s a powerful boy and has got a great left foot. He’s been finding his feet a little bit in our environment, but in the last few weeks he’s just seemed like a different animal, and he deserved his start.”
