Lukas Jensen feels the team are growing each day under the stewardship of Michael Skubala.
The Dane kept his sixth league clean sheet of the season against Leyton Orient and feels the Imps are on the right track under their new head coach.
Jensen said: “It’s been great, I think everybody can see what we’re working on with our new patterns and playing style.
“I think we showed against Leyton Orient how well we can do when it’s all coming together.
“Day by day and game by game we are proving we can play some really good football, and to do that when we play Barnsley in front of our home crowd would be exciting.”
Barnsley are the next visitors to the LNER Stadium, with Jensen aware of the threat the play-off chasing Tykes will pose.
He added: “I don’t think Barnsley need any introduction, they’re a good side and a big team, and if we want to get into those play-off positions then we’ve got to compete against these teams.
“The more time we have under Michael, the better we will play, and it will be a good test on Saturday.”
