Dylan Duffy was pleased to net his first goal of the season in City’s 3-0 win at Cambridge United on Tuesday evening.
The 21-year-old scored the second goal of the night, with Danny Mandroiu and Jack Vale also getting on the scoresheet to seal maximum points for the Imps.
Duffy said: “I think it did take a little deflection and went underneath the goalkeeper. It took so long to hit the back of the net I didn’t even know I had scored.
“It’s the best feeling in the world and I am delighted to finally get off the mark this season.”
Duffy has also enjoyed working under the new head coach since his arrival and has thanked him for the trust he’s instilled in him while playing in a new position recently.
He added: “I have never played as a wing back at senior level but I’m enjoying it because I love playing as wide as possible and think that’s where I’m best suited.
“Michael Skubala has coached me through the position and I am finding it enjoyable. I said a few weeks ago that I can’t thank Tom Shaw enough, and it's the same with the new head coach as he’s put a lot of trust in me and the other younger players.
“We’ve now picked up seven points from our last three games so if we keep that form up I think we will be alright.”
