Carl Rushworth is delighted with the character shown by his team-mates as they were able to “grind out” another three points.
A 1-0 victory over Oxford United extended the Imps’ unbeaten run to nine matches and Rushworth was pleased with the defensive display on show.
Rushworth said: “I am buzzing we managed to get the result over the line. We put our bodies on the line and helped each other out when needed, so I’m glad we secured a clean sheet and three points.
“We know we’re strong defensively and while we don’t want to sit back and invite pressure, when the game gets like that we know we can deal with it.”
City’s No.1 picked up his 14th clean sheet of the season on Saturday and says the strong form can be credited to the hard work put in on the training ground.
He added: “We work really hard in training and train the way we play.
“That pays off because we’re starting to move up the table and have to make sure we keep grinding out results.
“Thankfully we have another game on Tuesday evening which is good because we can use the momentum we have and we’re looking forward to it.”
