At 24-years old Regan Poole is one of the youngest club captains the Imps have had in recent years.
In a season where the Welshman amassed over 100 appearances for the club and inherited the captaincy from the departing Tom Hopper, Poole is proud of the developments he has made.
Poole said: “I have played every minute of every game which is something I am very proud of.
“On a personal level I have developed again and as a young lad, I still have more room to do that. I just want to learn as much as I can, and I have certainly done that this season.”
The versatile defender is approaching 250 senior appearances in football, making him one of the most experienced figures in the side which adds a pressure he relishes.
Poole added: “We are young, so I do feel a bit of responsibility to play my part in leading the boys even though I’m still young myself – but I do like that. I have played a few games in my career, so it is a nice feeling to be one of the experienced heads.
“We are such a good group and to play alongside these lads has been a pleasure and I have loved every minute of it. We have such a good and honest group of players who just want to get a result in every game we play. I think that shows on the pitch and as a collective, we are so together in everything we do.”
