Danny Mandroiu was keen to applaud the bumper crowd at the LNER Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
More than 9,000 were in attendance as the Imps lost at home in the the league for the first time in the 2022/23 campaign.
He said: “We will dust ourselves down and go again next week. We just want to thank all the supporters who were magnificent.
“We tried our best and gave it our all but it just wasn’t to be. Unfortunately we couldn’t really get our flow going and the result is a tough one to take.”
While City suffered their first back-to-back losses of the season Mandroiu complimented the strong showing from play-off chasing Peterborough United.
He added: “They are a very good side and play some decent football. I thought we had a good go in the second half.
“I thought we started well after the break but fair play to them as I thought they were an impressive side.
“We need to take more shots and be more clinical - I think that’s what we are missing at the moment.”
