Mark Kennedy was pleased with the performance of a young Imps side in Tuesday’s friendly at Grimsby Town.
The match was an opportunity to get vital minutes on the pitch for players as preparation continues for the 2023/24 campaign.
Head coach Kennedy said: “It was great for the young lads, a really useful exercise and experience. Some of the play was very good - no one likes losing football games, but baring the result it was a pleasing night.
“And we saw a real professionalism in the second half when we made the changes, it’s hard to keep that flow when changing eight players.”
City’s pre-season campaign draws to a conclusion on Saturday when Sky Bet Championship side Rotherham United visit the LNER Stadium.
Kennedy added: “It’ll be a good test and I’m looking forward to it, I hope fans come down to the LNER Stadium.
“It will be a really good game, it will be more of a real reflection of what the EFL season looks like.”
