Ben House felt Crewe Alexandra provided a good test as he and his Imps team-mates continued preparations for the 2023/24 season.
City’s 2-1 victory at the Mornflake Stadium extended their unbeaten run during pre-season into a fifth game.
House said: “The way Crewe played helped us to try and create our press which we will need going into the game at Bolton.
“It was a good test, it’s good to get 90 minutes in the bank and we go again against Grimsby Town and Rotherham United.”
House feels that the summer arrivals have enhanced the squad as they fit head coach Mark Kennedy’s desired style of play well.
He added: “The additions have ben amazing. They fit our system and way we want to do things.
“We’ve sussed each other out and are gelling more and more with each outing. We did well last season and hopefully we can do better this time round.”
