Sunday’s double header at the LNER Stadium will be even more special following the Lionesses heroics in Sydney - with football fans invited to watch them take on Spain in the World Cup final with the Lincoln City Women team.
Following England’s 3-1 victory over Australia earlier on Wednesday, the final will be shown live at the LNER Stadium before the women’s take to the pitch later in the day for the opening game of the FAWNL season.
It promises to be a matchday to remember, with kick-off for the women’s game moved back to 2.30pm to ensure no one needs to miss a moment of the action in the showpiece final.
Timetable for Sunday 20 August:
- 11am – The FIFA Women’s World Cup final will be shown live from 11am in the SRP 200 Club at LNER Stadium. The Lincoln City Women squad will watch the match alongside fans prior to their opening fixture of the season.
- 12 noon – City’s U15 Academy boys take to the pitch as they host Notts County in a pre-season friendly.
- 2:30pm – Lincoln City Women will host Notts County Ladies in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands at the slightly later time of 2:30pm (previously 2pm) to allow both sets of players to enjoy England take on Spain in the FIFA Women’s World Cup final.
Admission for both fixtures (including watching the FIFA World Cup final) costs just £5 for adults or £2 for U18s, although gold members can gain access for as little as £4 per adult or £1 per U18.
Alternatively, purchasing a women’s season membership will provide the most cost-effective way to back the Imps this season.
Gold members will be able to watch all of the women’s home games for just £10, with silver, bronze, junior and young Imps able to buy a season membership for £20.
