Alex Mitchell is embracing the prospect of competing for a place in the team with healthy competition in the City squad.
City return to the LNER Stadium on Saturday for the visit of Blackpool and the central defender is looking forward to the challenge of securing a place in Mark Kennedy’s starting eleven ahead of the game.
Mitchell said: “It’s going to be hard to cement a place, there’s competition but that’s what you want. You need players fighting for the shirt and for the chance to represent the club - more competition means better standards.”
Mitchell believes he has settled in with the lads well and hopes he will enjoy his time with the club over the course of the loan spell.
He added: “I’ve been on loan a few times so I’m quite good at integrating into a new group. The lads have been good with me and it’s a really good dressing room to be part of.
“I can tell I’m going to enjoy it here and it’s been good to get settled.”
