Mark Kennedy was not surprised by the performance his side delivered to knock Premier League Sheffield United out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.
City's head coach believes his side were deserving of their opportunity to win the game on penalties and has praised his players’ coachability.
He said: "It was a really good night, the lads were outstanding and showed incredible discipline.
"It’s all well and good standing on the touchline and having a gameplan, but these lads have the ability to be coachable and execute that.
"I’m super impressed with their performance, but I’m not surprised as we are incredibly consistent with what we do and what we are."
Kennedy was also full of praise for the travelling Imps who had sold out the away end at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night.
He added: "To come away from home, be so good out of possession and keep a clean sheet against a Premier League side is not easy.
"I thought we deserved it, however, but I say that respectfully because I thought we earned the right to go to penalties.
"It’s as good a night as anybody has had, and our 3,000 away fans were electric and made it feel like a home match.
"I’m really pleased for our supporters that they got their rewards and it was a brilliant night for the club."
