Mark Kennedy has been pleased with the standards set by his squad as they compete for a starting place against Blackpool on Saturday.
City’s summer business has bolstered Kennedy’s side with options, and the head coach praised the squad for how this has raised levels in the camp.
“Ultimately someone is going to be pleased and somebody is going to be disappointed. I look at it in a really positive way though - the group has been outstanding in how they’ve trained.
“The standards are really high, people are pushing each other, and there’s a big difference between where we are today and where we were last year for sure.”
Kennedy is keenly aware however of the threat an unbeaten Blackpool side will pose, with the Tangerines yet to concede a goal this season.
“It’s nice to have a home game. It’s a big game, against an excellent side, with an outstanding young manager. It couldn’t be a tougher game for sure.
“But, at some point, Blackpool are going to concede a goal, and that’s a fact - and we’ve got to make sure it’s us on Saturday who are putting the ball in the back of the net.”
