City will support Lewis Montsma in his recovery from a knee injury which will see him miss the rest of this season.
The centre-back has been a regular in the Imps’ matchday squad over the past two months after returning from a similar long-term injury.
He came off during last month’s fixture at Fleetwood Town, and scans on the injury have revealed significant damage that requires further consultation with a specialist knee surgeon.
Director of football Jez George said: “Everyone at the club is devastated for Lewis but equally determined to continue supporting him going forward. Lewis has shown incredible professionalism and commitment throughout his rehab and could not have done more. The same can be said of our medical and sports science staff.
“Lewis is currently back home to spend some time with his family and will be assessed by a specialist knee consultant next week. We won’t comment any further until we have their confirmed diagnosis.”
