City forward, Jack Diamond, was pleased to tick off a career milestone on Saturday afternoon after netting his first senior hat-trick.
Yet despite securing the match ball, City’s number 27 said he was more pleased with the Imps taking all three points at the Memorial Stadium.
He said: “It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but we have come to a difficult place, scored six and taken three points. I know all the lads in the dressing room are buzzing.
“Of course with it being my first senior hat-trick, that was a nice little bonus too. I made sure I chased down the match ball after the game as well so I’ll make sure all the lads sign it too!”
Diamond bagged a brace in the first half before completing the triple in front of the travelling support just before the hour mark.
He said Saturday's performance demonstrates the potential his teammates have in attack, as well giving the Imps who made the long journey to Bristol an entertaining afternoon.
He added: “The fans were brilliant and I am sure they had a thrilling one watching all of those goals go in!
“You can see the ability we have up front to go away from home and score six goals, so we must try now to continue this momentum.“The gaffer summed it up perfectly after the game saying it has taken us level on goal difference which is a real positive, so that tops off a brilliant week with back-to-back wins,” he finished.
