Ted Bishop has made a flying start to the new campaign and by September, is already well on his way to achieving some of the personal targets he set himself for the entire season.
The attacking midfielder is one of City’s senior figures in the squad and is leading by example as the club’s top scorer across all competitions.
The playmaker said that getting off to a quick start has helped him settle into the season.
He said: “It’s always good to get off the mark quickly because you are always thinking about when the first goal or assist is going to come.
“I’m just happy I’ve managed to back up my good games so far. I managed to get the first goal in the cup and then a couple in the league and a couple more in the cup again, so that has been good for me.”
City’s No.10 is now eager to ensure his goal contributions equate to points in Sky Bet League One and believes despite a tough run of fixtures on the horizon, he and his team-mates are capable of a run of wins with the continued backing of supporters.
He added: “If you look at it there has been too many draws so far. There are a few games where we drew and should have won, and if we’d have taken maximum points in those it would be a different picture with the league table. Overall, we are not happy with the points haul, but with the way we have played, we are okay.
“The cup runs have been great too because, the more games you have, the more you can put into play what we’re working at on the training pitch. As players we want to play as many games as we can, so it is important for us and the management staff to do well in all the competitions.
“The support home and away has been brilliant and I know all the players are appreciative of that. The fans have been unreal so far this season so hopefully we can give them a run of wins, kick-start our home form, and from there and give them some good results to cheer about."
