Mark Kennedy felt his defence were always on top after City extended their unbeaten home start in the league to five games.
City have not lost at the LNER Stadium in EFL Sky Bet League One this season, with a goalless draw against Charlton Athletic ensuring it is now five games without defeat in Lincolnshire.
He said: "I thought our back five were outstanding. Charlton’s front line is very impressive and we had to be at our best at the back.
"We want to win at home, but I’m not disappointed - we got a clean sheet at home and we are still unbeaten in the league."
Danny Mandroiu made his first start for the Imps on the back of being sent on at Bolton Wanderers last week.
He added: "He is a real talent and has good ability.
"He will get there and he is a bright player. It was a big plus to get him some minutes."
