Lincoln City full-back Brooke Norton Cuffy was quick to praise the fans following the hard fought victory against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
After the 18-year-old settled into life comfortably at the Imps, the defender claimed his first professional goal in senior football and was eager to highlight the role the supporters had in that.
“The fans were immense. They didn’t stop singing the whole game, so they really gave us the edge to kick on and we did that. They have deserved more, and we gave them that," he said.
“It’s my first professional goal, that’s a really proud moment for me and I’m just buzzing. Hops pulled it back for me and my eyes lit up - I wrapped it and it left my foot pretty sweetly so as soon as I hit it I knew where it was headed.”
Following the positive result, Brooke has tasked himself and his teammates with backing up the result at Portman Road against Ipswich on Tuesday night.
“After our last performance it was about bouncing back and moving into this game and I think we did that, so it’s a positive for us," he added.
“We have got to take each game as it comes and we have another game on Tuesday, so while we had a good result, we can’t stop here, and we have to keep pushing."
