Michael Appleton expects a battle on Saturday as the Imps travel to Wimbledon on Saturday.
While the boss acknowledges the importance of a good team performance, he admits he is more focused on picking up three points regardless at this stage of the season.
He said: “The fact that Wimbledon have kept going, stayed in games and still look full of running from what I’ve seen makes them really dangerous.
“We’ve got to go there with a professional attitude making sure that it just becomes about the three points, of course we’d love a good performance, but ultimately it comes down to three points.”
Appleton highlighted the importance of every game left in the calendar and ensures the players will fight hard to be where they need to be by the end of April.
He added: “If we do win, it’s another opportunity to pull away from teams around us and I understand that, but there’s 33 points to play for and we’ve got to make sure we’re in there fighting for every single point.
“We’ve got an idea of the points tally we’ll need come the end of April so let’s try and achieve that as quick as we can.”
