Charles Vernam is looking forward to returning to Blundell Park for the first time as an Imp on Tuesday night.
The winger made 81 competitive appearances for Grimsby Town between January 2018 and August 2021.
He said: “It’s a place I have fond memories of. I enjoyed playing there, they gave me an opportunity to progress and come out of playing Academy football and step up to first-team football.
“It’d be nice to go back in a competitive fixture as the atmosphere would be exceptional, but even though it’s pre-season it’ll be nice to be back and against a good team who had a great season last time.”
Grimsby provided Vernam’s first taste of regular first-team football after initially joining on loan from the Academy system at Derby County.
He added: “It was a really important learning curve for me. That was my opportunity, and I realised the importance of performing every time you went out on the pitch.
“There’s still a couple of lads from when I was there, so it’ll be nice to see a few familiar faces even though I’m now fully focused on achieving for Lincoln City.”
Everyone attending the game will be given a complimentary bottle of water courtesy of both clubs.
