The Imps will celebrate the arrival of the Queen’s Baton on Sunday with a series of events on the community 3G pitch at the LNER Stadium as Lincoln continues the countdown to the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The baton is on a 29-day tour of England, with Lincoln hosting it on Sunday. It will travel from the International Bomber Command Centre to the LNER Stadium, before heading to Lincoln Stonebow where it will then be relayed up Steep Hill to Castle Square and Lincoln Cathedral.
The baton is expected to be at the LNER Stadium from 5.34pm for approximately 20 minutes.
City’s Foundation are marking the baton’s visit with a men’s walking football tournament, a women’s walking football training session and DS Active activities. These will pause when the baton arrives and is brought onto the pitch, with photo opportunities for participants and, if time allows, spectators.
Local residents are welcome to come down and watch the events from the viewing area of the 3G pitch at the LNER Stadium. Foundation team members will also be on hand to discuss some of the amazing work down in the community by the club’s charitable arm.
Other activities are taking place at the International Bomber Command Centre with family-friendly activities, as well as a celebration in Castle Square from 5pm featuring street theatre performances and music from BBC Radio Lincolnshire.
