Under 18’s pick up three more points.

The young Imps picked up three more points in the Youth Alliance League as the beat Harrogate Town by three goals to two at the EPC.

Despite the result, lead phase coach Ash Foyle was disappointed with elements of the sides performance as they struggled to match the performance levels that had been set before the Christmas break.

He said: “We went into half time with three goals without being great.

Some sloppiness and poor decision-making led to the game turning into a bit of a fight towards the end which was disappointing, especially with the way we had controlled games in the few weeks leading up to Christmas.

It’s a shame we didn’t take full control and make the opposition suffer as we’re more than capable of doing so.

The result is a positive but in the grand scheme of things, it’s a disappointing performance given the standard we’ve set ourselves.

A couple of second-year scholars helped us to stay focused and led by example and we probably needed that today to make sure we didn’t throw the game away.

It’s a good lesson for the lads to learn and hopefully it’s just a bit of rustiness coming off the break and we back into a rhythm in our next game against Mansfield.”
