Lincoln City midfielder, Conor McGrandles, says his side need to begin converting their chances as the Imps seek to climb the Sky Bet League One table.
Speaking after the narrow loss to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening, a game in which the Michael Appleton’s side we’re in control for much of the game but could not find a breakthrough, the Scotsman said: “It’s the story of our season.
“We play well up to a certain point and then we’re not taking our chances. We should never have lost that game, but we did.
“We made a few mistakes, but we played well and created a lot of chances. You’re happy getting the chances because at points in the season we weren’t creating too many, but we need to turn those stats into goals and wins.”
One aspect of the Imps performance that was pleasing for Conor was that of Brooke Norton-Cuffy. The 18-year-old defender won the supporter’s Man of the Match last time out against Wycombe, and McGrandles said he has been impressed by the full-back and hopes he and the squad can “build some momentum”.
“He has loads of pace and power and is a real handful,” Conor said. He did it on Saturday against Wycombe and he’s followed it up with another performance, it’s a good start to his career here.
“We need to get the points as quick as we can. We will debrief this when we get into training and then look to Fleetwood on Saturday. We just need to focus on ourselves, we’re not looking at our position in the table at this moment, we have points totals and targets we want to hit and if we do that, we will be fine.”
