Michael Appleton says supporters have an important role to play as City face an important run of three home games over eight days.
Tuesday’s visit of Morecambe kickstarts a busy period, with Wycombe and Doncaster following in quick succession.
He said: “The more support and encouragement we can get for the players, the better the opportunity to get the result that we all want.
“I hope they stay patient with players - they have to perform and express themselves. There’s been some good performances at home, we’ve just not been able to get over the line.”
Appleton is aware of the importance of the games ahead, believing there is an opportunity to move up the Sky Bet League One table throughout February.
He added: “The reality is if we do the business in these next five or six games, we know that we’re more than capable of beating sides at the top of the table and that will put us in a really comfortable position.
“We have to make sure that we pick up points over the next five or six games and make sure we have a strong end to the season.”
