Charles Vernam is ready to kick on after getting his first competitive action for the Imps in recent weeks.
The winger came off the bench in City's last home game, against Forest Green, and was handed his first start against Barrow in midweek to put injury challenges firmly behind him.
He said: “It was great against Forest Green, I wasn’t out there for long, but it was nice to get out there and to feel the atmosphere, but you miss it when you’re not playing and you’re sitting and watching.
“The home support has been unbelievable this year. It was great to get some minutes and I’m hoping that as I perform there will be more to come.”
With a number of players in forward positions returning from injuries, competition for places is strong at the moment. But the Imps’ No.7 is taking that as a positive, feeling the battle for a spot in the starting XI will spur the players on.
He added: “There’s massive competition - that’s what you expect at this level. There’s always going to be people who are ready to replace you if you’re not doing your job or if you’re injured.
"The people that are coming into the team are so hungry to win and to do well. As a group, I think whether you’re on the bench, in the squad or in the team we’re all contributing to the same goal and we want to achieve the same things because we are a team, and if the team does well then ultimately those people will do well.
“I was grateful to Lincoln for giving me the opportunity to play at this level again, because I feel that I’m good enough to take that step and I’m glad that the coaching staff here feel that I can take that step as well."
