Sean Roughan has enjoyed fighting for a place in the team this season.
The 19-year-old defender has started in each of the Carabao Cup games this campaign and is eager to get some more minutes under his belt.
He said: “It is really good to be playing first-team football again and I would like to continue doing that this year.
“Obviously I would like to play more games but Jamie Robson has been doing well and I just have to continue pushing him.
“I am relishing the challenge that comes as this is what I have wanted for the last couple of years.”
Roughan has spoken about the journey he has been on over the last couple of years and said that his family have played a massive part in getting to where he is now.
He added: “It was very tough through Covid-19 and living away from family at such a young age, but it has made me a better person.
“I am close to my family and that is what helps me push through. They have kept me going through this whole time and have always stayed positive even when I have had injuries. I cannot thank them enough.”
