January signing Charley Kendall believes his "surprise" move to Lincolnshire is the best step in his career.
Having left QPR in the summer to join Eastbourne Borough where he has since scored 24 goals in 32 league games, Charley said he was delighted when he had heard City were interested in his signature.
He said: “I had a call from my agent to say Lincoln were in for me and I’d heard good things already, so I was half-enticed from the offset. I went up to the city to have a look around and I was hooked from that: I went to the stadium and the training ground, spoke with Jez George, and after that, I was convinced.
“It came as a surprise because I didn’t expect such an interest so quickly. We were only halfway through the season at the time, and I didn’t think any big clubs would be in for me, but when I heard the news I was absolutely delighted and I couldn’t wait to sign.”
A key component of the club Charley is keen to experience is the supporters, who he says have taken to him kindly. With many supporters yet to see the striker in action, he hopes he will become a player that excites them and insists he will work hard to keep them on side.
He added: “The supporters have been top class with me, even on social media I’ve been getting lots of messages from them and they have all been really welcoming. I have actually met a few at the stadium when I was up to watch a match and every single one of them were respectful and welcoming and I can’t wait to get started playing in front of them.
“I have a lot of energy as a player, so I make sure I work hard but I’m good with the ball at my feet and I’ll sometimes bring a bit of entertainment to the game. But given my position my game is all about goals, and I really hope I can deliver them for the supporters when my time comes."
