Imps boss Michael Appleton is eyeing up a strong finish to the season with now only seven games remaining.
Appleton is keen for his squad to produce a gutsy performance at Charlton Athletic on Saturday to edge them that bit closer to safety.
He said: “I’m keen to not keep looking back. We’ve got seven games now and I want to finish as strong as we possibly can, first and foremost picking up the points that we need, then hopefully we can keep looking forward.
“The earlier we can do that, the better. It takes the anxiety away from the squad, the fans and everybody. We’ve got to go and perform well because if we don’t then we won’t win the game against a good side, so let’s hope we can get a performance that we’re happy with and hopefully that will be enough for us to take points off Charlton.”
Johnnie Jackson’s Addicks have won their last three games and Appleton is aware of the threat they will pose.
He added: “They kept three clean sheets in their last three games so they’re clearly on a decent run of form. If you look round the squad, it’s full of top quality players and I’m sure they’ll be trying to finish the season as strong as they can.
“I’ll be amazed if they’re not fighting at the top end of the table next season.”
