The Imps' games in the Papa John's Trophy will kick off at 7pm where possible to make it easier for families to attend.
Dates for games against Bradford City and Sunderland have been confirmed, with the visit of Manchester United to the LNER Stadium still to be agreed.
The earlier kick-off time is being trialled after a suggestion from the Imps' Supporters Board, who feel it will allow younger fans a chance to get to games.
Tony Smith, Chair of the Supporters Board, said: "During our recent meeting with the Club Board, the Supporters Board expressed a preference for 7pm kick off times for this season's Papa John's Trophy home fixtures as we feel an earlier kick off would provide ideal opportunities for our junior supporters and their families to attend midweek games while returning home at a reasonable time ahead of school or work the following day.
"Hopefully this will lead to higher than usual attendances for these matches and potentially encourage new fans to visit the stadium on a matchday - probably in some cases for the first time."
Agreed dates are:
Bradford City (a) – Tuesday 31st August
Sunderland (h) – Tuesday 5th October
Both matches kick-off at 7pm
A date for the home game against Manchester United, including the kick-off time, has still to be confirmed.
