Ash Foyle’s dominant Imps made it five wins from as many Youth Alliance fixtures as they picked up three points at Scunthorpe United.
Goals from Oisin Gallagher (10), Mekhi Angol (25), Bobby Deane (38) and Billy Brooks (56) helped City on their way as they battled through tough conditions.
Harrison Poulter bundled home a late consolation goal for the hosts, turning home a cross from the right..
Foyle said: "It was horrendous pitch conditions at Appleby Frodingham, but the lads adapted really well and still played some excellent football at times. We were on the front foot and aggressive without the ball which is what we want to look like.
“We controlled the game throughout but we’re very disappointed with the goal we conceded and the fact that we allowed some sloppiness and poor decision-making creep into the game in the last 15 minutes, albeit with multiple U16s being brought on to the pitch.
“Overall it was a dominant performance and another victory which is a positive way to wrap up for the Christmas break. The lads have been excellent the first half of the season and need to ensure we continue in the same vein when we restart in January.”
