Michael Appleton believes a patient approach from his side will bring rewards as his side look to continue their good start to the season.
The Imps have collected four points from their opening two games, and Appleton was
pleased his side followed the gameplan against Fleetwood on Saturday despite trailing to Danny Andrew's impressive free-kick.
He said: "It’s nice to know we have a side who can come from behind to win - the players showed a real patience and you can’t underestimate how difficult it is to break down a bank of five at the back.
"It’s a satisfying start. To pick a point up at Gillingham is never easy and backing it up with a win is really pleasing. If you can stay unbeaten for a few games you know you've given yourself a chance.
"You're just jockeying for positions and it's hard to tell after a few games, we just want to put ourselves in the best position we can going into November or December."
Bolton head to the LNER Stadium having won promotion from Sky Bet League Two last season.
Appleton added: "Bolton have a lot of momentum from last season's success. They went on an incredible run ad they’re a huge club.
"There’s a feel good factor there and I’m sure Ian Evatt will be pleased with their goal tally."
