Michael Appleton’s side picked up three points on the road this evening with a 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra at Alexandra Stadium.

The Imps currently sit top of the Sky Bet League One table with 22 points to their name from nine games and face Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. City supporters can watch the action LIVE on WeAreImps iFollow by purchasing a match pass HERE.

Harry Anderson scored the decisive goal just before half-time with an impressive strike from the edge of the box.

Imps boss Michael Appleton was impressed with his side’s performance saying: “I think we moved the ball well and created good chances.

“The only downside was that we went into half-time leading by just one goal, that might sound crazy, but we had a lot of opportunities to score more.

“They changed things in the second half and went to a 4-4-2 which was more direct, but I thought we handled it well for the majority of the time.”

The Imps manager continued by praising Lincoln’s defensive efforts to see out the game with a clean sheet.

“We had to answer a lot of questions tonight and you have to do that over 90 minutes.

“We defended well for the last 20 minutes which is just as pleasing as the attacking spells we had before.

“I am happy with tonight’s performance.”

City travel to Doncaster Rover this weekend in Sky Bet League One action, Michael finished by turning his attention to the fixture speaking about the work his side will put in over the week.

“Doncaster are one of the best sides in the league at keeping the ball. We will be aware of their threat and we will respect them because they are a good side.

“They are capable of scoring goals so we are mindful of that and we will work hard in preparation for Saturday.”
