Speaking about this afternoon’s game against the Pilgrims, Michael explained how his side played well despite not getting the result they wanted: “We have lost the game, but the performance levels were so good in the first 45 minutes.
“I thought we were outstanding in the opening half.
"We were good in the second half but lacked a killer instinct, there were too many times where the shot was straight at the goalkeeper, we should have made him work.”
The Imps boss continued by saying: “It was frustrating, but the lads can be pleased with their efforts, if we can keep working hard like that and move forward, we won’t be too far away.
“We have a massive game to look forward to on Tuesday.”
The Imps currently sit fourth in Sky Bet League One with 26 points from 13 games, their most recent victory coming on Tuesday night against Swindon Town.
Michael spoke about the last seven days which has seen City travel to Accrington, Swindon and Plymouth: “We have had a decent week; it would have been great to be in the third round but that is behind us and we are fully focused on Tuesday.
“We need to recover right because it has been a long journey so we will fuel the players properly. We will be ready to go at seven o’clock on Tuesday.”
