Michael O’Connor has today left Lincoln City and joined Salford City. The Northern Irishman has linked up with the Skybet League Two side for an undisclosed fee after 18 months with The Imps.

The experienced Northern Irish midfielder joined The Imps for a second time in his career in July 2018, following a spell with Notts County, his first spell in the City coming back in 2009 on loan from Crewe Alexandra.

Michael made his second debut in The Imps first home game of the 2018/19 season against Swindon Town, the first of 67 appearances in all competitions over the past season and a half with the club in which he scored four goals in the process. The first of those came in memorable fashion against one of his former clubs, Port Vale, as he fired home the third goal from distance in a 4-0 win over the Valiants in the first round of the Carabao Cup. Michael of course helped City head to the third tier for the first time in twenty years following the run to the League Two title in 2018/19.

He started the current campaign with what would prove to be his final strike, it was the opening goal of The Imps’ Skybet League One campaign at home against Accrington Stanley in August in the 2-0 win over John Coleman’s side. Michael made his final appearance for The Imps in the home win over Peterborough United on New Year's Day.

Everyone at Lincoln City would like to thank Michael for his services to the club and we wish him all the best for the future.
