Lincoln City are delighted to announce the signing of Ben Coker. The 30-year-old defender has this week joined The Imps on a free transfer.

Coker joins Danny Cowley’s squad bringing a wealth of League One experience after his six-year stint with Southend United came to an end last season following an injury which hampered his chances of featuring again for his former club.  The defender is now well on the road to recovery and looking forward to a return to League One football with The Imps.

The full back featured over 200 times for the side from Roots Hall after joining them in the summer of 2013 following a three-year spell with Colchester United.

The popular full back was part of the Southend side which won promotion to League One via the playoffs in the 2014/15 season against Wycombe Wanderers, as the Shrimpers won the final on penalties (7-6).

Also in the Shrimper’s matchday squad that day were current Imps’ Jack Payne and Cian Bolger, with the latter scoring the promotion clinching penalty at Wembley.

The full back is happy to have sorted out his future and he told WeAreImps.com that he’s looking forward to getting back out onto the pitch:

“I’m buzzing to be here, I’ve never been up North! I’m really excited to get going, I can’t wait. Once the opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance to come here. I knew a few of the lads and there are a few accents similar to mine so it’ll be easy to settle in!”

He continued: "I can’t wait to get back out on the grass and show the fans what I’m capable of.”

Ben will wear the number 33 shirt at Sincil Bank. Welcome to Sincil Bank, Ben.
