Lincoln City are pleased to announce the signing of Northern Ireland international midfielder Michael O’Connor.

The 30 year old, who has been capped by his country eleven times, becomes The Imps’ third signing of the summer after putting pen to paper on a one-year deal with an option to extend that beyond the summer of 2019.

O’Connor returns to the club with whom he had a loan spell towards the latter stages of the 2008/09 season, joining from Crewe Alexandra making 10 appearances and scoring once for City.

After his spell with The Imps, the midfielder joined then Championship side Scunthorpe United where he stayed until the summer of 2012 before moving to Rotherham United. O’Connor helped the Millers to promotion from League 2, then the following year, the team from the New York Stadium were then to rise into the Championship with the Northern Irishman featuring alongside Lee Frecklington in the Rotherham midfield as they gained promotion for a second successive season, after winning at Wembley in the playoff final against Leyton Orient.

O’Connor was to move to Port Vale where he had a two year stint, before moving to Notts County where he made 42 appearances.
