Jordan Maguire-Drew has been selected as the second winner of the player of the round for the for the first round of the Checkatrade Trophy, with his brace against Everton U-21's being the highlight which all but sealed the Imps' progress into the knockout stages of the competition.
Maguire-Drew was voted as the winner of the award by supporters after making the initial shortlist built by an independent football expert. Just a month past his 20th birthday, Maguire-Drew scored both goals in the aforementioned win over the Toffee's side with the second being one to remember, as he curled a delightful free-kick over the wall and into the net.
Maguire-Drew, was naturally delighted to pick up the award and he said: “It was a good game for myself personally and for the team. We’ve qualified for the second round with Accrington coming up and we’re all looking forward to that.
“The Checkatrade Trophy has been massive for me. You can test against yourself against physical teams that you wouldn’t come across against in the Under-23 League. It’s a good test for young players to see where they stand.”
The Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round competition gives fans the opportunity to vote for the player they feel performed best during the second round of fixtures. Lincoln City’s fans voted in their masses for the star forward, making sure he collected the second Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round trophy of the season.
