Lincoln 3-0 Crewe - Match Report

A very strong performance from the Imps resulted in a 3-0 victory.

Lincoln got off to another fantastic start in their final home pre-season friendly and were 1-0 up inside two minutes. Jack Muldoon forced a corner early on which Nathan Arnold then took, it found Matt Rhead who forced a great save from the keeper but Adam Marriot bundled the ball in following a goalmouth scramble.

George Cooper than forced a stop from Paul Farman who tipped the ball wide but the following corner was easily dealt with.

The Imps then made it 2-0 in the 15th minute. Rhead flicked on to Muldoon who then stabbed the ball home under the advancing Crewe goalkeeper Ben Garratt.

Lincoln were passing the ball around nicely with Power and Woodyard looking very impressive in the middle of the park.

It was then 3-0 to the Imps within half an hour. Arnold got in behind full back John Guthrie and his cut back was brilliantly finished by Marriott for his second of the match.

Taylor Miles replaced Adam Marriott at half time and he almost made it 4-0 straight after the restart. He found space on the edge of the box but his curling effort was tipped over the bar by Garratt.

Great play from Bradley Wood on the right saw him skip past two Crewe defenders but his low cross just evaded Rhead who was sliding in at the far post.

Beevers then replaced Habergham in the 56th minute. This match proved to be a good runout for Marriott and Habergham who were getting some valuable minutes under their belt after some injury setbacks pre-season.

Jamie McCombe and Arnold were replaced by Callum Howe and Elliott Hodge.

Power then picked up a knock and had to be substituted by Archie Moyses. The second half was much quieter than the first with no real clear cut chances for either team.
