The Keith Alexander Memorial Tournament has become a regular fixture in the Club’s calendar and has quickly become an event that other clubs are keen to take part in.
This year sees the fifth tournament which will have more teams and be held at a new venue. The Academy is delighted that Matt Alexander, Keith's son, will be the Guest of Honour on the day.
The tournament will be played on Sunday 26 July at Ruston Sports & Social Club, Newark Road, Lincoln, LN6 8RN, starting at 10.00am.
Taking part will be 30 teams representing Academies from the Football League and National League as well as local club sides. Among them are Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City, Scunthorpe United, Grimsby Town, Boston United, Ruston Sports and Nettleham.
Teams at Under 14 and Under 16 level will be aiming to emulate Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest respectively who were victorious in Lincoln City Youth Academy's prestigious tournament last summer. For the first time this year's tournament also sees teams competing at Under 12 level.
There is no admission cost and supporters are welcome to come along to see some potential stars of the future. The first matches kick off at 10.00am.
An opportunity has arisen to sponsor the tournament. An attractive package is on offer for c. £750. More details can be obtained by emailing futureimpsfund@redimps.com
