Report
There were two changes to the City starting line-up for this Vanarama Conference game against Aldershot Town at Sincil Bank Stadium with Arnaud Mendy and Conner Robinson coming in for the suspended Jon Nolan and injured Marcus Marshall respectively. On the bench there was a return for Tom Miller and he was joined by Jordan Burrow and Kegan Everington plus new signings Tyrell Waite and Aidan Grant.
City kicked off and were quickly on the offensive with both Arnaud Mendy and Ben Tomlinson having effort held by Shots stopper Phil Smith in the opening three minutes. Aldershot responded by winning a succession of corners before Hamza Bencherif got in a timely block to clear a goalbound Brett Williams drive.
In the 12th minute another Shots corner - their 4th of the game - ended with Paul Farman saving well from Ryan Jarvis before the City 'keeper held a follow-up header which looped into his gloves.
On the quarter-hour mark Robinson latched on to a clever Alan Power ball but saw his lob over Smith go over the bar. And end-to-end opening continued with Farman tipping over a deflected Glenn Wilson header before a eep Caprice cross was cleared off Sam-Yorke's head for a City corner which ended up seeing Smith deny Bencherif.
Aldershot's next break came in the 21st minute with Williams firing over after referee Richard Wigglesworth failed to spot a nasty challenge on Bencherif in the build-up. The official then upset the home fans again when he harshly booked Charlee Adams following a tussle with Jarvis a minute later.
Having weathered a couple of Town corners, City struck back in the 31st minute - and in some style with CHARLEE ADAMS firing home a half-volley from fully 30 yards out - his effort flying straight into the top corner with Smith left to clutch thin air.
Shortly after the restart Mendy headed a Newton cross over the bar but it wasn't long before the Imps were on the offensive again and when a weak header back from Oastler sold his keeper Smith short, in nipped BEN TOMLINSON to bag his 10th of the season.
A surging run forward from Sam-Yorke saw him win a corner a minute later whilst at the other end Farman was forced to back pedal and tip a cross from East over his bar. Play immediately switched to the other end with Robinson beating Smith with an excellent effort only to see the ball crash against the post.
The half ended following a 12th Aldershot corner and a minute of additional time.

Both teams emerged unchanged for the start of the second half and the Imps were quickly out of the traps, extending the lead less than three minutes in.
Robinson was the architect, chipping in a centre from the right and after the ball was kept alive by Sam-Yorke, there to fire home his first for the Imps was ARNAUD MENDY for the perfect start to the second period.
A deflected Tomlinson effort lead to a corner a minute after the restart but Aldershot responded by winning a couple of their own; City dealing with them both easily.
Referee Wigglesworth had words with Power on the hour mark after he tripped Jordan Roberts before a change for Shots saw Kieron Forbes replacing Sam Hatton. A yellow card was then shown to Jarvis following an aerial challenge on Bencherif.
In the 63rd minute Tom Miller replaced Nat Brown alongside Bencherif in the centre of defence and he was quickly in the action getting in a timely block to deny Williams.
At the other end five minutes later Sam-Yorke was denied by Smith before the keeper claimed Robinson's follow-up header. Oaster was then booked for a foul on Sam-Yorke during the build-up.
Josh Scott replaced Danny East for Shots in the 70th minute whilst a couple of minutes later Power fired over following a sweeping move forward by the Imps. Jordan Burrow came on for Robinson before the goal-kick was taken.
With 80 minutes on the clock, Tyrell Waite for Delano Sam-Yorke was the Imps' final switch whilst Aldershot's third substitution saw Andre McCollin come on for Ryan Jarvis three minutes later.
The next half-chance saw Waite sprint forward but fired just wide whilst from the other flank a Power cross was inches away from finding Burrow in the middle.
In the first of three added minutes good play from Caprice saw him win a corner on the right and as the Imps kept the ball in the attacking third, Tomlinson fizzed an effort just the wrong side of the post for the last action of the game.
